The Community Law Manual

The Community Law Manual is a free, plain language legal information resource to help everyday people in Aotearoa New Zealand know their legal rights and options.

The Law Manual is about making the law easy to understand so you can decide your next steps when you’re dealing with a legal problem. Published by Community Law Centres Aotearoa as a book and online guide, it is updated regularly to reflect changes to the law.

There are additional easy-to-read manuals and guides for pregnant people, prisoners and those impact by natural disasters, including: Lag Law: Your Rights in Prison and On Remand, Pregnancy Rights and Rights at School & Kura (formerly Problems at School).
